It's been a busy month and a half...work and other projects have taken precedence, but it's fun to come back here and play!
Sewing/Crafting wise I finished up a comission for the local zoo and got that handed off and have sold a few knit hats as the weather gets colder. Been working on my portfolio (I've been saying this for like six months, so I've really got to force myself through this last push to get things updated), and doing a few odds and ends projects. And I'm working on an outfit for an upcoming con I'm going to in November...partially this is an epilogue to last year's artistic/life/existential crisis, partially I apparently feel the need to outdo myself every year. And by outdo myself I mean come up with the most horrifically complicated project ever and then accessorize it within an inch of its life. I blame my relatives for this...they enabled me with too many playsets and ten million doll accessories as a child - This was bound to happen, I tell you! Thankfully I'm getting some help on this outfit, and when it is done it should be epic beyond imagination. Seriously, if I could come up with a code name for this outfit, I would, because it's going to be that intense. Can't wait!
Writing-wise, I'm also pumped - I've been writing a lot of short horror stories lately (that need to be edited. Sigh. I need to clone myself or make robot minions...), and I've got a few fantasy novella ideas that are looming on the horizon. I've also gotten word that I'll have stories in a 2012 anthology of bedtime stories as well as upcoming issues of The MacGuffin and The Realm Beyond!
And it's nearly Halloweeeeeeeeen! You'd think I'd be over the holiday since I've had my brain there for work since oh, April, but I'm finding myself getting excited again. The leaves are changing outside and we've finally gotten a break from the sketchy weather (90 degrees one week, 30 the next, what the hey??). It's pleasantly crisp and the sky is that luscious Midwest October blue. And to make it better I have a stack of ghost story books to plow through in good time this week (when I'm not reading Laura Ingalls Wilder. I know, I don't try to understand myself at this point either. I just go with it.)
So good things are all around! So for the moment I'm working on editing pictures and chilling out here on the couch with my cat watching really stupid afternoon cable television.
